Artist's Commentary

If you're just joining the story, you can read it from the beginning, by clicking HERE for episode #4.

Woohoo! 10 episodes completed! As mentioned in the website news, new comic updates will now be on Tuesdays.

I've been planning a 'Deserted Island' story since the beginning, but I wasn't sure if I would connect it to another story or not. I knew the 'space battle' would be a good transition to this new location... so I went for it. Those of you who have read all the comics will probably recognize the 'island' as being similar in design to the plastic island and palm tree from the first episode. I actually designed this island first, with the plan of doing this story, but when I decided to put the little 'pet newt' in the first episode, I wanted to put him in the same kind of 'amphibian pet dish' I had my own pet newts in when I was a kid...so I made a plastic-looking version of the island for the first episode.

I've been looking forward to this idea of Newt using John's antennae to start a fire. The next few episodes will have more of these 'Classic Cartoon' Gags and Slapstick feel to them... so I hope you'll come back to check them out!

*** The commentary that follows, was placed on this comic after a delay while I was moving to a new place. I thought I should included it as part of the 'archive' of Newt and John.

OK... if you're reading this, you may be thinking...'but that's not a new comic!'... and you'd be right.

I really wanted to have the newest comic in this story ready to upload this week, but after moving to a new place, painting, unpacking, etc, etc... and a delay with my internet, it took longer than I thought to do a new update. Now, I'm right in the middle of a lot of daily animation work, so I just don't have the time to finish the comic this week.

HOWEVER, I am making a promise to myself to have a new one up this coming week... hopefully by Tuesday evening at the latest.

So, for now, I've put the last full episode of this story, back on the main page to refresh your memory of where the story left off before all of this 'Life Stuff' of mine got in the way of my updates.

Just be sure, I haven't given up on the comic... and Newt and John will find a way off that island!

Cheers!
